Department of Social Work
The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) programme at KMO Arts and Science College, Koduvally, is a Four-year undergraduate course designed to prepare students for professional social work practice through a strong blend of classroom learning and practical exposure. Introduced in 2023 with an intake capacity of 30 students, the programme combines theoretical papers in social work concepts, human behaviour, social policy, community development and professional practice with structured field experiences such as agency visits, community work and internships, enabling students to apply what they learn in real-life settings. The department also supports a student association that organises enhancement programmes, workshops, outreach initiatives and leadership activities, helping students build confidence, social responsibility and professional competence while creating a vibrant, service-oriented learning environment.
Vision
To develop socially committed, ethically grounded and professionally competent social work graduates who contribute meaningfully to community well-being, social justice and inclusive development in a diverse society, in line with the college’s broader mission of empowering students and serving the community.
Mission
To provide a comprehensive social work education that integrates theoretical learning with practical field experience, nurtures critical thinking, empathy and leadership, and encourages active engagement with communities through enhancement programmes and student associations, thereby equipping students with the knowledge, skills and values to respond effectively to social challenges and promote sustainable social change.
